receipt printers use specially treated
heat-sensitive paper and do not use a ribbon.
Thermal receipt printers generally print faster
and are quieter than dot-matrix printers but
cannot print on multi-ply paper. Impact,

use a series of very small pins that rapidly
impact against a ribbon, which causes an image to
be transferred to the receipt paper. Dot-matrix
printers are reliable and generally have lower
acquisition costs than thermal receipt printers

Magnetic Stripe Card Reader from

Credit Card Reader (AKA, MSR,
magnetic stripe/swipe readers) are essential for
accepting credit or debit cards at the Point of
Sale. They can be attached via keyboard wedge,
serial port (RS-232) or USB, and are most often
configured to read tracks one and two, or track
two only. Though often referred to as credit card
readers, magnetic stripe readers can read many
cards with magnetic stripes, including some
driver's licenses and ID cards. PC connected,
keyboard and portable units available.
